The name John Daly is synonymous with two things: long drives and drinking your face off. It seems that the latter has caught up to him in a big way.

Daly has been suspended from the PGA Tour for six months, in what he calls the lowest point of his career. The PGA’s reasoning behind the suspension is that Daly’s conduct has brought unwanted publicity to the PGA, which includes the night he was found by police outside of a Hooters in Winston-Salem, NC, resulting in a slumber party in jail. But if you’ve ever seen or heard anything relating to John Daly, you know that this “unwanted publicity” is the latest in a long line of public embarrassments for Daly. His 18-year career in golf has been marred by his wild lifestyle. He’s been in fights, trashed hotel rooms, drove balls off of beer cans, and all the while never did much to improve his image.

Even though Daly has been suspended from the PGA Tour, he still plans to play golf. Daly said that he’ll play on the European tour until his suspension expires. His decision to play in Europe probably makes one of his two corporate sponsors happy. Daly has a deal with Fly Emirates, and the first 3 weeks of the European tour are spent in the United Arab Emirates.

Hopefully, Daly’s latest suspension will make him rethink some of the things he does in his life. He was once a great player with a lot of promise. At 42 years old, he still has some time to regain his old form. Maybe the next John Daly headlines we see will be of him winning tournaments, not losing brain cells.
