2009 Buick Open Fantasy Golf Picks
Next on the PGA Tour schedule is the Buick Open from Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, MI. We’re going to try our best to help you out with your fantasy golf picks this week. If we totally destroy your status in your fantasy golf league, make sure you let us know in the meanest way possible. Comments with insults are encouraged.
Without further ado, these are the guys you don’t want to pick this week…
A-List
Tiger Woods: So, he missed the cut at the British Open last weekend. So what? To me, that’s even more of a reason to pick him. He’s a competitor and he’ll want to come out strong this week. And Tiger with an agenda is a scary thing.
Jim Furyk: We’re picking Jim Furyk and his crazy-ass swing this week. Furyk likes playing at Warwick Hills, and usually plays well at the Buick Open. He finished tied-for-5th place in 2007, and in 2nd place in 2006. That’s good enough for us.
B-List
Woody Austin: This guy should get you some major fantasy points this week. This course really fits his style, and it shows because he always plays well here. For the past two years, Austin has finished tied-for-2nd, and in 2006 he finished tied-for-7th. Three top-tens in three years. That’s pretty consistent.
John Rollins: Speaking of top-tens, Rollins is 2-for-2 in top-tens for the past two years. Like Woody Austin, this course fits Rollins’ playing style. So, look for him to have a strong showing at the Buick Open this weekend.
Brian Gay: Brian Gay is another guy that plays well at Warwick Hills. He’s finished in the top-15 here two out of the last three years. We’re going to sit him on the bench to begin the weekend because we think Austin and Rollins will get the job done for us. But, we’re prepared to throw him in if either of the first two looks like they’re having a bad tournament.
Nathan Green: You can’t mess with success. We’re hoping Green can build off of his playoff victory at the RBC Canadian Open and score some fantasy points at the Buick. However, we don’t think we’ll need him because of Woody Austin and John Rollins. But he’s there just in case.
C-List
Scott Verplank: Verplank has two top-five finishes at the Buick in the last three years. And that one year that wasn’t a top-five, he finished tied-for-17th. Not bad. So, we think he’ll score some major points for us at Warwick Hills.
John Daly: We are on the John Daly bandwagon. Since he returned from his suspension earlier this year, we have seen a huge improvement in Daly’s game and the way he carries himself. He has played well since his return, and his history at the Buick is also pretty good. We’re pulling for John Daly, and it looks like a pretty amazing story.
There you have it. As always, take those picks to the bank…or the dumpster. Just leave a quick comment below and tell us how you did. Again, insults are welcome.

I like Scott Verplank this week. He is a grinder and blew up last weekend. That tournament easily could have been his if the weather had not messed up. As a diabetic, you can’t have start, stop, start again, etc., etc., – confuses your system.
I like your blog very much. I’ll be back often…
